1st DAY: MARRAKECH - AIT BENHADOU - DRAA VALLEY - ZAGORA
3 Days New Year Desert Tour To Erg Chegaga From Marrakech
We start the 3-day desert tour to Erg Chegaga from your accommodation or the airport of Marrakech early morning. We drive through the magnificent Atlas Mountains, and through various Berber villages. Different stops will be made along the way to enjoy the panoramic views and sceneries. Then we arrive to the Kasbah of Ait Ben Hadou, enjoy a short visit of this beautiful world heritage site. The Kasbah used as a set of various Hollywood epics such as Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia. In addition to TV series like Game of Thrones. After lunch in either Kasbah Ait Benhaddou or further in the city of Ouarzazate, we drive through the Anti Atlas Mountains and hills, the Berber villages, and along the Draa River. Draa Valley is considered the largest palm plantation also the longest river in Morocco. We arrive to Zagora in the afternoon for the overnight with dinner at the hotel.

2nd DAY: ZAGORA - TAMEGROUTE - M’HAMID - ERG CHEGAGA

After breakfast, we head for a short stroll in the oasis before heading southerly and passing the old town of Tamegroute. In this little village, you will visit one of the oldest libraries in Morocco where some ancient books and scripts can be found. The surrounding is dotted with palm trees and tamarisk trees. Along the way, you can visit one of the workshops in Tamegroute that bake stylish green pottery in an old-fashioned method. After that, we continue our journey to the wild desert gate of M’hamid. We will then cross a huge plateau where you will surely be impressed by the wide and huge sand dunes of Chegaga dotted with wild plants and trees. Here we will take a camel ride at sunset and enjoy the most fantastic views. Prepare for a special evening and enjoy the music of the local nomads by the campfire and the full clear starry sky. If the weather permits it, you can sleep under the sparkling stars if you wish as it is safe. Today you will celebrate a memorable new year gala dinner with entertainment. 3rd DAY: ERG CHEGAGA - FOUM ZGUID - TAZNAKHT - MARRAKECH

Our final day starts with an off-road drive through another 90km of the desert with varying scenery, including expansive mountains, Lake Iriki, and a visit to an area renowned for its ancient fossil beds. Here you’ll find extraordinary fossils from the Paleozoic Age, nearly 540 million years ago when Morocco was an ancient sea. Lunch will be in Foum Zguid, the first village after the desert, where you can also freshen up with a shower. The return to Marrakesh is along a comfortable paved road passing the village of Taznakht, famous for its Berber carpets. Many tourists take advantage of and find a rug perfect for their home. At last, we pass back along the High Atlas Mountains and reach Marrakesh in the early evening.
