Sahara Memory
This Morocco desert tour is a wonderful experience for cleaning the mind of all the daily thoughts and worries. Few time before the evening meal, a roaring fire, music, singing and a night under the stars as you have never seen before. You will discover unique landscapes and lost paradise meet friendly people and sleep either under the nomad berber tent or under the star filled sky.
- Day 1: Marrakech - Ait Benhaddou - Draa Valley - Mhamid
Early morning departure with 4x4 from the hotel in Marrakech. We cross over the High Atlas Mountains- Tizi-n-Tichka with a visit of Ait Benhaddou, Morocco’s most famous kasbah. Lunch in Ouarzazate. The trip goes through Draa Valley with millions of palm trees and old Kasbahs, partly off road. After Zagora you will have a stop at Tamgroute to visit the famous Koran library and an underground Kasbah, night with dinner will be either in a hotel in M'hamid or under the Berber tent in a desert camp.
- Day 2: Mhamid - Sacred Oasis - Erg Chigaga Dunes
After breakfast, you do two hours camel ride in the midst of the desert. Around 10:30 you are will travel in a 4x4 through a beautiful desert landscape to a Oasis for lunch break. This Oasis consists of a small group of palm trees around a source in the midst of the desert, which running water the whole year. It is deemed as a source of life to the nomads. Around 16h00 and after further 15 km we reach the dunes of Chigaga (Chegaga) . This largest group of dunes of the region reaches a height of 300 m on a length of 40 km. Dinner and night in nomad tent or under the star filled sky with entertainment.
- Day 3: Erg Chigaga Dunes - Foum Zguid - Taznakht - Marrakech
After breakfast in Erg Chigaga Bivouac , departure with 4x4 jeeps via the old Paris - Dakar race road to Foum Zguid crossing Iriqui lake, lunch break in the berber village of Taznakht. We arrive to Marrakech at app. 18.30.
