Gorges and valleys
Departure from Ouarzazate by 4x4 to reach Skoura oasis along a track to see several Kasbahs, some unfortunately in a state of disrepair but idyllically placed amongst the palm trees. Afterwards, the route passes through the Valley of Roses with a stop in Kela’a M’gouna to see and sample the locally-produced rose cosmetics, famous and highly valued throughout Morocco. The track leads us away from the Rose Valley, also known as the Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs. This road winds past villages and the river, which carries little water, allowing a view of the astounding rock formations and colours. We stop to enjoy a glass of tea with Berber nomads in their caves.
Lunch is scheduled in the Dades gorges with a break for a closer look at the monkeys' fingers rocks across the river. This is followed by a walk along the river. In the afternoon we continue the journey to reach Todra gorges. From there we return through the Dades valley to reach Ouarzazate late afternoon.
